Lilacs for a Lady
Lilacs for a Lady is the story of an English
family’s move to a remote Nevada ranch during the Depression. The harshness of the climate and the western
lifestyle of the period are a backdrop for this poignant tale of a young girl
coming of age and the adjustment that her grandmother, a proper Englishwoman,
makes for the benefit of her family.
The story is rich with the same warmth and humor of Beam’s previous
novel, Emily Louise,
Jennifer Godwin of Halfway, OR, illustrated the
cover for Lilacs for a Lady.
